Tipping is not a compulsory thing but very much appreciated by local guides, driver, hotel staffs and restaurant staffs.

However, it is really up to you and what you feel comfortable with.  You will not have to give a tip if you feel you are pressured into it. That is not the purpose of tipping. A tip is given to show appreciation for good services you had during the trip.

2. LUANG PRABANG (the world heritage site .) 2. XIENG KHUANG: Xiangkhouang Province is one of the main maize producing areas of Laos. It was heavily bombed during the Vietnam War era.

4. VIENTIANE (used to be a former French trading post during the colonial period and now is the charming capital of Laos)
5. SAVANNAKHET: it is the second-largest city in Laos, after Vientiane
6. PAKSE (is the capital of Champasak Province and one of the largest cities in the southern part of Laos.)
7. CHAMPASAK: It is one of the three principalities that succeeded the Laos kingdom of Lan Xang
8. WAT PHU (s a gorgeous Khmer temple which is close to the Phu Kao Mountain in the Champasak Province)
9. SI PHAN DON ISLAND (Four Thousand Islands’ in Lao.) 
10. XE PAIN NATIONAL PARK (is a national protected area in Champasak and Attapeu province in southern Laos)
11. PAKBENG ( is located between Luang Prabang and Huay Xai and one of the main reasons that people visit is to stay overnight if you take a river trip between the two towns down the Mekong)
12. HUAY XAI (located on the border between Laos and Thailand, gateway to Bokeo Nature Reserve)
13. BOKEO NATURE RESERVE (outside the town of Huay Xai and is a well known nature reserve
14. LUANG NAM THA (the largest city in the northwest part of Laos and is famous for being a stop off point for anyone traveling between Laos and China.)
15. MUUONG XAY (the capital of the larger Oudomxay Province, the largest city in the northern part of Laos and known for its gorgeous mountain ranges.

Within 10 days you will have enough time to go to main and popular cities of Laos like Vientiane. Vang Vieeng, Luang Prabang, Pakbeng.

You can spend 7 days to get deep insight this zone. Spending time in  Luang Prabang,  Plain of Jair some trekking day in Luang Nam Tha and Sam Neua and expenrice the boat ride down the Mekong to Huay Xai. May through  July is ideal for mountain trekking and homestay.

The main places that you might want to experiment is Vientiane, Pakse, Champasak.  Weather and scenery is most stunning from June to Oct.
